Ann Jenell Hurd



Ann Jenell Hurd of Little Rock, Arkansas, 74, a beloved mother, sister and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016.

Born in Casscoe, Arkansas, Ann was a 1959 graduate of Immanuel High School in Almyra, Arkansas.  She was a 1962 graduate of Philander Smith College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  Additionally, she received a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in reading from Ouachita Baptist University in 1983.

Ann was a lifelong educator passionate about improving the reading fluency and comprehension skills of all students.  She worked in the Little Rock School District for 38 years until her retirement in June 2003.

She is survived by her sister, Shirlene King Joyner of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter, Gigi Hunt of Missouri City, Texas (Wyndell); daughter, Khristi Maxwell of Little Rock, Arkansas and grandchildren: Skylar Hunt, Robyn Winston and Kason Maxwell.

Ann was a faithful member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016, 10:00 am, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 1215 S. Schiller St., Little Rock, Arkansas.  Family hour will be held Friday, September 16, 2016, at 7:30-8:30 pm, at Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 S. Chester St. LR (501) 372-1305.
